For your best orientation I would like to provide you with a useful bit of information regarding the legal status, the tasks and the jurisdiction of the Office.

Our Office works under the surveillance of the Ministry of Local Government. The main tasks and rules conducting the activities of the office are regulated by the 318/2008. (XII.23.) Government Decree.

The main tasks of the Office

Regarding the official administration (authorization, prohibitions, registration etc) the Office is generally the court of the second instance, which means making decisions in case of appeals. In such cases the court of the first instance is the notary of the local government.

In same cases the Office is the court of the first instance (for example authorization of purchase of real estate by foreigners, subsidizing car usage by disabled persons, licensing institutions with social tasks, expropriation, rights of way for mining, certifications for getting married in abroad etc).

The Office's tasks involves organising trainings for civil servants (for example organising the compulsory exams for civil servants). We are organising trainings for the civil servants in order to develop their skills and provide them with the required expertise for the new challenges.

As a regional authority of national public administration surveillanced by the Government, we are performing coordination tasks among the public administration authorities in the region. We are coordinating the activities of authorities with governing and supervising functions. This coordination is performed under the Hungarian College of Public Administration, about which you can find further information on our webpage.

The Office's tasks involve the technical preparation and execution of the elections and referendums, and the contribution to the running of the citizens' address registry systems.

The Authority has a technically independent institution, which belong to Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour.

The Trustee Office deals with trustee and children protection issues, which means important supervisory tasks and court of the second instance issues.

The State Architecture Office belongs to our Office, too. The Chief Architecture performs the landscape regulatory tasks at the first instance, participates in preparation of regional development programs and landscape regulation plans, and besides he is involved in the regional coordination of these tasks.

Other main goals of the Office is to perform legal and non-discriminatory procedures concerning our main tasks listed above and to inform the inhabitants properly. According to the current level of information technology development our goal is to utilize the possibilities ensured by Internet.
